When Buk-Nyeo, a widow drug seller beating a drum at a market place of spring days in 1950, expects to meets a strong man, she happened to see Dol-Bo and entices him to make her husband. As a master of drumming, she leaves Dol-Bo and daughter following her easy virtue by nature after she leads a happy life for a short while. 20 years later she meets Dol-Bo who brought up their daughter by himself and feels his true love. But she is satisfied with only watching him and departs for wandering again beating her drum that contains their love.
