40 years ago gangs ruled Bangkok, Dang Bireley and Young Gangsters is a classic gangster tale full of drop-dead beauties, violent shoot-outs, and tough gangsters with hearts of gold. Dang Bireley was a real person, a famous gangster during an era when Thais were smitten with American icons such as James Dean and Elvis Presley.

Dang‘s story is told by the old man Piak Visut, once a member of Dang‘s gang. Dang became a gangster to escape the humiliation of being a prostitute‘son. Dang stabbed his first victim at age 13, a customer of his mother‘s,and at age 18 he gunned down a notorious Chinese leader, establishing his reputation. Fighting with rival gangs, his gang takes over the city. A coup d‘etat locks up gangsters so Dang and his men flee to New Land where Dang pro fits but makes a new enemy of tek, a powerful tycoon. Tek has Dang gunned down at Dang‘s obligation to his mother to join the monastery for a period of tiome, a common practice for men in Thailand, This film successfully mixes period details with local sensibility. Nostalgia is evoked through the use of still photography, and the style and attitude of an era.
