About Light in the Field
Sa-Yong who couldn't finish the elementary school due to his family's poverty marries his childhood friend Sun-Nam after he is discharged from his military duty. He decides to work as a servant in stingy Wang's house for three years, while his wife works as a housemaid in her friend Deok-Ku's house. Three years later, they buy about 0.2 acre of land with money they collected for the past three years, and grow crops. Sun-Nam gives birth to a child, but Sa-Yong gets pulmonary tuberculosis. Sun-Nam takes good care of her husband, which results in his complete recovery. The government also aids Sa-Yong with his cash crop cultivation.
