About Oyster Village
The people of an isolated island in the western sea make their living on only oyster fishery. They are superstitious who believe that when somebody is drowned in the sea, he or she can't go to heaven until next one would die. When Byol-Rye's father is drowned, her mother plunges into the sea. Byol-Rye gets married to I-Shik, a sick son of Mr. Kang, an officer on the condition that Mr. Kang would make her mother go to heaven. Geo-Mu, Byol-Rye's boy friend is furious after he finds that his love is gone when he comes back from fishing. In the end they know that Mr. Kang doesn't bury a living man for Byol-Rye's mother. Geo-Mu takes Byol-Rye out of Kang family and they start to the mainland on the boat. But Byol-Rye makes a hole under the boat secretly. A few days later, villagers find bodies of Geo-Mu and Byol-Rye on Seon-Hwa mud field......
