About Edward Yang
Died at July 29th, 2007.
Born in Shanghai in 1947, Yang moved to Taipei with his family in 1949. After graduating with a B.Sc degree in electrical engineering, he moved to the USA and worked as a microcomputer and systems designer for seven years. He returned to Taiwan in 1981 to begin a new career as a flmmaker and made his debut feature film That Day, On the Beach in 1983. His films include: Taipei Story(1985), The Terroriser(1986), A Brighter Summer Day(1991), Mahjong(1996).
