About Does Cuckoo Sing a Song at Night?
Su-Ni is a daughter of wayfaring male entertainer. She is brought up together with Do-Ri (male) by her mother. Being adult, she gets married to Do-Ri. Chil-Seong, one of Do-Ri's friends, falls in one-sided love with Su-Ni. In the meantime, a government official Kim arrests Do-Ri, who supports his living by making charcoal, on the charge of violation of the Law of Forestry, and attempts to rape Su-Ni. Fortunately, she can escape by Chil-Seong's help, and follows Chil-Seong. Su-Ni cannot forget her husband Do-Ri, so that she returns to the charcoal making house and waits for her husband. When Kim again tries to rape her, she embraces Kimand throws herself and Kim into the charcoal furnace's flame to die. Being released from prison, Do-Ri discovers a precious stone made ring, which is his dead wife's belonging, at the ashes inside the furnace.
